This is a Stata command that performs the test. To run it on the PGA data to replicate the empirical application in the paper proceed as follows:
First create the `tourncat' dummies by typing
gen tourncat = tourn + "_" + cat
Then run
rassign handicap hand_i if round==1, group(tourncat)
To perform the test of Guryan et al. (2009) run
areg handicap hand_i mean_handicap if round==1, vce(cluster group_id) absorb(tourncat)
